The Ernestine factory in Salerno, Italy was founded by Ernestine Virden-Cannon and Matteo D'Agostino, her husband, in 1948. Virden-Cannon was an accomplished artist and designed the decoration for the forms her husband produced. The factory was closed following the deaths of D'Agostino in 1968 and of Virden-Cannon in 1969.
